The problem

Critical financial reports lived in a legacy BI tool with transformation logic nobody wanted to touch. Data was extracted by hand from the general ledger, the portfolio system and spreadsheets on SharePoint every two weeks, and the firm needed to maintain both IFRS and investment reporting bases with exact statement formats for board materials.

What we built

  1. 1Gateway, service accounts and converted stored procedures for secure on-premises access
  2. 2One organised set of figures behind every report, so the numbers agree with each other
  3. 3P&L and balance sheet statements replicating the business logic for both reporting bases, with a mapping structure and adjustment capability for finance
  4. 4Access by role, with each person seeing only their figures, and reports that refresh on a schedule
  5. 5Documentation and training for finance and IT

What changed

  • —Reports reproduced faithfully from the legacy tool, on a model the finance team can build on
  • —Bi-weekly manual extraction replaced by scheduled refresh
