Sage Intacct reporting

Sage Intacct reporting in Power BI

Board packs, fund and grant reporting and budget holder views from Sage Intacct, refreshed automatically across every entity and dimension.

Intacct reports well. The board pack still ends up in Excel.

Sage Intacct’s dashboards, dimensions and report writers are among the best in its class. The gaps appear when the numbers have to leave Intacct: for the board, for funders, for budget holders, or next to data from other systems.

No direct line to Power BI

Power BI has no built-in connection to Sage Intacct, so most teams start with exports or a third-party driver that someone has to look after.

The pack is finished in Excel

Board and funder packs start in Intacct and end in a spreadsheet, rebuilt by hand every month.

Big reports stall

Wide reports across many dimensions can take a long time to run or time out, and Excel exports stop at 65,000 rows.

Budget holders wait

Department heads and project leads without an Intacct login rely on finance to send them their figures.

Other systems stay apart

Fundraising, CRM, payroll and grant data sit outside Intacct, so the full picture is assembled by hand.

Reports need a specialist

Intacct’s dimensions are powerful, but building new reports takes skills most finance teams do not have time to learn.

What the reports cover

Five report pages, set up around your entities, dimensions and funds. We walk you through them on sample data first, then on your own.

01

Board pack

Income, expenditure and balance sheet by entity, department and location, against budget and last year, ready for the board without retyping.

02

Funds and grants

Restricted and unrestricted funds, grant spend against budget, and grants nearing their end date, for trustees and funders.

03

Budget holder view

Each department or project lead sees their own spend against budget, with the transactions behind it, and nothing else.

04

Group view

All your Intacct entities together, with intercompany shown separately and currencies translated to your reporting currency.

05

Cash and debtors

Who owes what and for how long, supplier payments due, and the cash position across entities over the coming weeks.

From Sage Intacct to the report

  1. 01

    Connect

We read your data through the Sage Intacct API or its scheduled data exports, loading only what has changed so you stay well within your API allowance.

  2. 02

    Store

The figures land in a database in your own Microsoft tenant with every dimension you use, and keep their history for any comparison you need.

  3. 03

    Report

Power BI reports in Teams or the browser, refreshed automatically. Finance can still work in Excel on the same numbers.

Built for charities too

Funds, grants and restrictions reported alongside the ledger, ready for trustees and funders. Our work with charities.

Intacct stays as it is

Nothing changes in how your team posts and closes in Intacct. The reports only read the data.

Financial reporting we have delivered

Finance teams trust reports only when the numbers tie back to the ledger. Every report we build is reconciled to the source before anyone relies on it.

Financial services

Financial reporting migration for 3i

Profit and loss, balance sheet, KPI and reconciliation reporting moved from a legacy BI tool to Power BI on a proper data model, with two reporting bases and manual-adjustment capability preserved.

Questions about Sage Intacct reporting

Does Power BI connect to Sage Intacct directly?
No. Power BI has no built-in Sage Intacct connection. We read the data through the Intacct API or its scheduled data exports and load it into a database in your tenant, which Power BI then reports on.
Will it use up our Intacct API allowance?
We load only the records that have changed since the last refresh and agree the schedule with you, so the load stays well inside your plan’s allowance. We check your current usage before we start.
Can it handle our dimensions?
Yes. Entities, departments, locations, projects, funds, grants and any custom dimensions you use come across as they are, so the reports group and filter the way you already think about the business.
We are a charity. Can it show restricted funds and grants?
Yes. Funds, grants and their restrictions are reported side by side with the ledger, including spend against grant budgets and grants approaching their end date.
Can budget holders see their own numbers without an Intacct licence?
Yes. Reports are shared in Power BI, and each person sees only the departments or projects they are responsible for. They do not need an Intacct login.
We already use Sage Intacct Data Cloud or another connector.
Then we can build on it. The reports sit on top of whichever route your data already takes into a database.
Can we add data from other systems?
Yes. Fundraising and CRM, payroll and grant systems can sit next to your Intacct data, so income, people costs and outcomes are reported together.
How is it priced?
As a fixed-price project agreed before work starts. A short reporting review comes first, so you know what is worth building and what it will cost.
