Power BI Desktop is a powerful data analysis and visualisation tool that allows users to explore and analyse data, create and share reports, and collaborate with colleagues. Power BI Desktop features include:

  1. Data connectivity and transformation – users can connect to various data sources, both on-premises and in the cloud, and transform and shape the data to meet their requirements.
  2. Data modeling – users can create and manage relationships between tables and other data sources, enabling richer analysis and insights.
  3. Visualization – users can create engaging visualizations of their data, including charts, maps, tables, and more.
  4. Reporting – users can create and share reports that include visuals, text, and other interactive elements.
  5. Collaboration – users can share their reports and insights with colleagues and other stakeholders to help drive better decision-making.

Developing new reports can be completed in PowerBi service, using a web browser, however for more adavanced visuals or when data blending and transformationfrom number of data soruces is required you will need to download Power Bi Desktop and install it on your computer.

  1. Go to offical Microsoft Power Bi download page: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/
  2. Click on Download to start the download process.
  3. Double click on the installer to install Power Bi Desktop.
